Your Brain on ChatGPT

A study by MIT set students the task of writing an essay. One group used no tools ("brain only"), one used the internet, and one used ChatGPT. Brain scans revealed that AI use significantly reduced brain connectivity, ownership of the creative product, and ability to remember what had just been written.

A 29% Reduction in Dementia Risk

The Human Intelligence Project focuses on positive steps to protect and enhance human cognition in the age of AI. The ACTIVE study isn't new: but it has fresh relevance today. It demonstrated  remarkable benefits from a specific form of brain training: speed of processing training. Over a 10 year period, a 29% reduction in dementia risk was recorded. One example of this training is BrainHQ's "Double Decision".

AI is turning you basic

Sandra Matz, a computational social scientist, and C. Blaine Horton, a creativity research, point to the cumulative effect of AI-driven recommendations on platforms like Spotify and Netflix. We are imperceptibly nudged towards the average, and we're led away from fresh  exploration.

Beyond LLMs

In this wide-ranging interview, AI researcher Joscha Bach offers many insights on the current state of AI. About the claim that AI doesn't "understand" what it is saying, he suggests the same could be said of human beings! Bach suggests building biologically inspired, self-organizing AI systems may open new paths toward artificial consciousness and understanding .
